Our dietitians are Accredited Practicing Dietitians (APD) who work hard to achieve and maintain the APD status. As a part of this program our dietitians participate in regular professional development to maintain a high level of skill. These skills are utilised daily in the wide variety of work that is required from individual consultations to hospital and aged care consultancy. At Dietcare we are passionate about nutrition and will advocate strongly for improved nutrition in all situations.
B H Sc (Nutr & Diet)
Monique has 16 years’ experience as an Accredited Practicing Dietitian and is the owner of Dietcare. She has extensive experience in aged care and hospital consulting and has worked in bariatric surgery for over 14 years. She has experience in paediatric nutrition, bariatrics, maternal health, food intolerance and chronic disease prevention. Having four children she fully understands how busy life can get when preparing a quick but healthy meal for the whole family. Monique was a facilitator for the highly successful PEACH program in Mackay for 2 years (2014-2016); a healthy lifestyle program for families. She enjoys working with children and has plenty of experience teaching children how to eat healthy by experimenting on her own family. Monique believes that good nutrition makes a significant impact on your physical and mental health and can influence the way you feel on a day to day basis. Josie has completed her Bachelor of Dietetics on the Sunshine Coast and is passionate about helping her clients reach their goals. She has a special interest in bariatric nutrition, chronic disease management, low FODMAP Diet for IBS, and weight loss. She has completed her training to be a facilitator for the My Health for Life program, which aims to support individuals to improve their health behaviours and prevent development of heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and stroke. Josie understands that there is no “one size fits all” approach to nutrition advice and works with clients to find strategies that are realistic and sustainable for their lifestyle. She perceives healthy eating as a multifaceted issue and, within her scope, provides strategies to improve clients’ nutrition related mental health as well as physical health.
B Nutr. & Diet
Emily completed her bachelor’s degree at the University of the Sunshine Coast. She has a passion for using a client-centered approach in conjunction with the latest scientific evidence. She is currently involved in generalist dietetics with a particular interest in gastrointestinal health after completing her ‘Low FODMAP Diet for IBS’ training with Monash University. Other areas of interest for Emily include chronic disease prevention and management, geriatric nutrition, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health. Emily believes that food is one of life’s greatest enjoyments and aims to inspire her clients to have healthy, positive relationships with food. Emily has recently been working as a food trainer for Jamie’s Ministry of Food in Mackay and Sarina and is currently training to become a facilitator for the My Health for Life program. She is passionate about such programs that focus on preventative health and learning in a group setting.
